About University

Bu-Ali Sina university (BASU) was established in March 10, 1973 in Hamedan province in the west of Iran. The first steps for founding Bu-Ali Sina University were taken after a treaty between the governments of Iran and France. It is one of the largest and most reputable universities in the country. BASU offers different bachelor, master, and doctorate programmes in several areas among them surveying engineering and environment management. BASU currently has about 420 faculty members, 750 employees, 13,000 students, 310 active courses in undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs, and 34,000 graduate students. The university consists of 13 colleges, including: Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Primary Medicine, Faculty of Physical Education, Tuyserkan Technical Faculty, Kabudarahang School of Engineering, Razan School of Management and Accounting, and Bahar School of Food Industries.

The two oldest faculty of the university are Engineering and Agriculture which are carrying out the researches related to environmental and geospatial subjects. The staffs of the departments of civil engineering and water science are engaged in scientific resaerch collaboration with different governmental and private organization in the field of GIS and Remote Sensing.

Role in the project

Bu-Ali Sina University plays role as the regional coordinator, in the Middle East, in this project. Conducting need analysis for the development of courses and the development of emGeo will be one of the main activities of BASU. Regular contact with the stakeholders and associate partners will be kept to include their views and comments in the developing courses and systems.

The university participates actively in organizing training, course lectures and dissemination event within partner higher educational universities and associated partners. The university actively participates in developing innovative blended courses with the collaboration of other universities in the consortium.

BASU will organize Training of Trainers (ToT), on the developed courses, for the Iranian teachers from partner universities. The university will also receive LU technicians for setting up e-learning systems in BASU.

Then BASU set up and train systems for Iran, the other partner university in Iran.

The University will also take the responsibility of translating course materials and other outcomes of the project to local languages and will offer international offices’ resources for implementation of the results.
